What is Marketing? A Basic Guide to Brand Name Marketing

What is Marketing?

As a marketing professional, I'm always asked what is marketing? And the simple answer is that marketing is: How does a consumer get to know about and select your product or service? - Is it done through an online, physical, broadcast, or social media marketing?

The difference between the methods of marketing is that with TV and Radio advertising, a brand or company can reach millions of people and you don't have to talk to someone face to face or touch them in any way. But with print ads, magazine ads, direct mail and emails, people actually talk back to you and get their "personal" attention.

Better Ways to Be Seen Online with Marketing

The good news is that this is what all marketing is. And how do you sell your product or service to these people?

Yes, I'm saying that you can go into a store and try to sell many different products. But which product or service will work best? Which strategy will benefit your business more?

With the explosion of technology ups, we all have access to many opportunities that are available now. So you may not have access to our internet, you can always visit trade shows, seminars, industry events, blogs, podcasts, radio shows, etc.

These are just some of the places you can take a stand and be more interactive and on the internet you will be able to give your audience tips, tricks, techniques, how do I find new customers, how do I find out about discounts, etc. In a nut shell; your tactics need to be customized for your business.

When you think about it, you don't need to talk about how you can give you customers information at a particular event or convention. You can ask your audience if they have any questions on a product or service.

Need Help With Your Online Marketing?

By being open to the audience and giving them something to talk about other than you, you are creating more exposure for your promotional tools. This is the key to the success of your marketing efforts.

However, as you continue to do this type of marketing, it's vital that you provide the tools and information that they need. In doing so, they will feel more involved in what you are doing and they will be excited to learn more about your product or service.
